Here’s a shot new interview of Summer made at FedCon. She talks Terminator, the series she watches and upcoming work.

Sadly it’s in German, but here’s what I understood in short:

She speaks of the relation actor/writers on T:SCC and how things played out in season 2.

She watches Brothers & Sisters, 30 Rock (she was advised to watch this by her sisters and became quite a fan), Top Chef, Project Runaway and… American Idol.

And most importantly: she got a role in a new movie. She can’t say what it is for yet, though she realy wants to be in it. But she’s waiting to see if T:SCC season 3 will happen or not.

Thanks Cristelle! I’ll read it tomorrow. :)

No, I really don’t think the plot is interesting. I thought it was blatantly obvious what Weaver was doing as soon as she hired Ellison, I can’t imagine how that could not have been clear to you. The Jesse/Riley sub plot was painful to watch IMO, this was partly due to both actresses, who are just plain annoying but also due to the repetitive nature of their interactions. The future scenes looked like a bad b-movie run through every colour filter currently available. Alpine Fields was just pointless. The submarine episodes suffered from huge plot inconsistencies and the other scenes were so forgettable that I don’t even remember them.

Where is the character development between Cam and John? They don’t really grow or change. What new things do we learn about them? What new insights do we gain? John doesn’t react any different because of a change in his character. Every action is based on some immediate cause, the basic status quo between them doesn’t really ever change. There’s a deeply rooted trust for her but he’s still always second guessing her. In front of others he defends her but to her face he’s cold. Nothing’s changed about that.

Also, it’s not character development if a character is struggling but we don’t learn anything new from it. Struggling, tension,… etc. that’s all not good character development, if it leads to nothing. John’s still crying his guts out in his mommy’s lap, Sarah already followed a crazy dream in the pilot, Jesse’s always been a bitch and Derek’s always been a bit dense… NOTHING changed and we know nothing new about them except for some factual information. I’m sorry but for all the time Friedman has taken to “develop” his characters, they are all underdeveloped.

They are interesting characters, sure, but they were interesting before TSCC came along. Friedman didn’t invent them, at least not the interesting ones. And before you say it, Glau made Cameron. She’s not Friedman’s creation, it’s basically Arnold’s character from T2 in female form, made insanely intriguing by Summer Glau.

And that’s all there is to Friedman, he’s laying out bait without the intention of delivering and I ain’t biting! He was asked in an interview if he’s tempted to fill up the finale with cliffhangers,.. he answered that he’d never do that and that he’ll answer all questions and just raise a tiny few new ones…

    L-O-L

If you can think of any way to implement more cliffhangers into the finale, please tell me because I surely don’t. I have lost any respect I ever had for the guy after I watched that finale, not that there’s been much to begin with though.

Shippers are always scary. Very, very scary people indeed. I have nothing against relationships of any kind but if that’s all you care about, you’ve got a few screws loose.

@Bauer: Agreed GermanIdol is terrible…they should hire Simon Cowell for a season

@DapperDan: Yes, i would like to see Summer in some sort of British Comedy like “Coupling”

I think the problem with T:SCC was that producer Josh Friedman didn’t see it as an action series – as he admited – but a family drama about cancer

I was actually thinking movies. I really hope she doesn’t do another TV show. Summer belongs on the big screen.

Dapper Dan Man, that was hilarious!!! my favourite line is ‘my brain is becoming disturbed mush’, ha-ha! Your whole post was really very funny! but seriously, I think the guy isn’t English-speaking, so be nice ^_^

Oh, I haven’t commented on Summer’s latest interview! How could I!
I really wish Serving Girl gets made. Sure, it’s not some huge mega-budget movie, but Joss has always written amazing stuff for Summer, discovering her best talents and abilities.
When I watch Dollhouse, it’s great and all, but I feel like something’s missing. Maybe Joss needed Summer to play in his show to make it even better?..
Anyway, I also wouldn’t mind Summer portraying Allison, I think it’s more challenging role than Cameron and she could play emotions more often than once in 22 episodes.

    thanks for translation

  9. PMGStubbs says:

aslong as Summer is happy with what she’s doing i know her career has to progress, i wont deny that i really wan a third season to see how the future turns out for them especialy if Summer is playing Alison. Summer has been amazing in T:SCC she dserves every success

  10. Marty says:

Ah that’s simple, she can’t accept another role cause she has John to protect.

  11. You are a very smart person! :)
