What first attracted you to be an admirer of Summer Glau??

@Joe... thanks for finding that review on IGN. I love the comment that you all also noticed... about the word "Hot" being a disrespectful term when pointed at Summer. Summer is so much more than "eye candy"... that to even think like that about her feels horribly wrong both intellectually and emotionally.

As a rule I try to look at a person not for their outward appearance, but for their inward persona, their soul... Summer makes that so easy, because she is so beautiful on the inside. And boy was he ever right about her talent and the fact that she is "not just another pretty face". I hope she gets the opportunities she wants to get. The talent she has can take her a long long way... that and her beautiful smile.

They're both beautiful, seem weak (in River's case, it's even true), but are much stronger than we can imagine (specially Cameron lol) and i believe that they are like opposites. While River can be a sweet girl, but also a killer (i don't like to use this term; I prefer a term "lighter", but i can't remember any now xD), Cameron is literally a machine, but apparently has strong feelings, I believe (jealousy, concern, perhaps even love Oo). It's like as if, when one is the negative pole, the other is positive, and when the 1st is positive, the 2nd becomes negative, opposites attract themselves, for me they form a single element.

I think Summer is the perfect balance between these 2 poles. Ok, the positive is stronger, because she doesn't look to have bad feelings in her heart, and that's what i like about her. I think she's so pure, smooth with her feelings...

@Rod... I think your definition of River/Cameron as polar opposites with common traits is right on the money and the fact that they blend so well at the source is unique to Summer. I suspect that eventhough she is so humble and down to earth, that she is also a bit complicated, and that is what gives her the talent range to bounce between a River and a Cameron and make you love them both. She seems to have a natural talent for that... and I think it is something that is innate, not learned. Summer is quite the actress and you can just see her ability to sympathetically communicate with an audience just by the facial experessions she conjures up. It's just in her body language and it is simply amazing. Maybe that is what she means when she says in interviews "I like being physical". She communicates so well visually... physically. Part of that is the dancer in her I would imagine too.

God defintely threw away the mold when He made Summer... and that spark of the "divine" you refer to is the kindness and love that you see that comes genuinely from her heart. It just flows naturally. She is so winsome and lovely in that respect.

I am rambling... and I am enjoying this thread.

Keep it going guys... any other good stories out there as to how YOU came to admire Summer?

Every human being has a divine spark (even the bad ones; i think they're just ignorants, or stupids. I have a dictation: every rubbish is ignorant, but not every ignorance is stupid). Think about that as we had a spark plug: while some got an old system, with 1950's spark plug and 6v ignition, others got electronic ignition, 12v, with 2 platinum spark plugs per cylinder, just like the Alfa Romeo Twin Spark engine :lol:

Summer is one of these ppl, her spark is strong enough to warm the ppl around her with her gentleness and kindness 8-)

Ohh I simply adore her in each interview she did!!

I really enjoy her facial expressions: she has a big collection of samples, some very funnny other very lovable (I prefer those, sometime I really feel the urgent push to hug her

I love her way to tilt her head when she is listening to her interviewer, I love her manner to fight her shyness (for example twisting her legs or hands, tormenting a chair's arm, or fiddling with her shoes

Hey guys. I'm new to the forums but i've posted stuff quite a few times on the homepage. Finally decided to join the forums .. not sure why it took me so long.

It's simple to think of the answer to this question. One word ... River.
I absolutely adore that character and the way Summer portrayed her was truly memorable and moving. Firefly is possibly the only show that I can say I like each character almost equally and yet there was something about Summer that immediately made me want to learn more about her. So I did .. and you guys know the rest of the story ...

To me the mystery is how anyone could not find Summer incredibly endearing. She just plain IS. I have a several friends who're equally big fans of Firefly and to them Summer is just the actress that plays one of the characters on the show. I honestly can't understand how they can't see her special appeal. I guess there's just something about her that appeals to a certain type of person.

Unlike some of you guys I honestly don't think i'd like to meet her though. It just doesn't seem like a quick meet and greet at a Con is my idea of a good time. I'm quite content to have her on my tv screen and to seek out videos of her interviews etc.. It's enough for me.

Im not sure y you don't want to meet her in person I haven't met her myself yet but all feedback is about how adorable she is so Im prating she goes to T2.

Anyway back on topic River is the character I fell in love with as soon as I saw serenity I just never thought I would ever adore an actress so much she is amazing in everything she does but seeing serenity attracted me to her first

It's the same for me. I have some friends that loved TSCC but they see her simply as the terminator who's protecting John Connor... :roll:

Well I'm partially agree with you: just seeing her the time she needs to sign an autograph (and maybe have few little extra time to say something more of "Hello Summer!") and go away is not the best of course, but I think that seeing her in "real", beeing only few meters (if not centimeters :mrgreen:

) away from her really worth the time. I think that one thing is looking her smile on a picture (directed to nobody) the other is looking at it directed to you. :oops:
