hey Norman >.<

if you send a card with messages from fans, I was wondering if I can write a message to her, between 5 ~ 10 lines of my affection for her, the affection of a fan of Brazil.

thank you ♥

i love her *--*

That topic is for the present. :)
Of course we will make a post on the site where everyone can write her a birthday wish. So yes, you can do that. :)

There will be a post on the main site a couple weeks before her birthday. So its still enough time. This topic here is only for the birthday present.

So we are going for something book and gardening related. :) So the next step would be to figure out the details of the present. What type of book ? Creating a template that everyone can use to create his pages for the book and so on.

The first thing we should probably do is figure out how big these seed packets are. That can help us determine how big to make the pages. Next we should decide on what information to include. Name of the flower, obviously, where its native to and a bit a history (we should keep this somewhat short), maybe why we chose that flower, and finally a short birthday message.

Is CloudyShadow still around? She did an excellent job with the layout for the cookbook. :)

Chief, are you suggesting a form letter of sorts?
First paragraph: Greeting.
Dear Summer, yada yada hello yada Happy Birthday yada.
Second paragraph: What was contributed and why.
I contributed XYZ because yada yada yada.
Third paragraph: Closing and well wishes.
Live long and prosper, yada yada.
Insert your name here.

Said letter and what you contributed would have to be shipped
in a packing envelope or small box to Norman. I would suggest
enclosing a packing list just to be sure.
Shipped to Norman because it's his credibility and reputation on
the line, and it was his idea for the most part.

Kyle was so nice to write a report from the supanova in Melbourne. He also asked Summer about gardening. I will try to get it ready for tomorrow and post it here in the forum.

As for the present, here is the part about gardening.

Quote:
She said that she has a great interest to grow vegetables of her own, but her current home does not have a backyard so she only has some flowers at the moment. She will be growing a lot of vegetables when she gets a backyard one day.

Should we maybe save this idea and go with something else then? It doesn't sound like flower seeds is something she can use right now. It sounds like she's in an apartment or condo.

I came to the same conclusions.
This will move the time frame up considerably.

Thanks Norman! I haven't had much chance to participate in the forum for many months due to work. But I will have some free time now and am very keen to contribute to the birthday present for Summer.

That's what I gathered from what she told me. If I remember correctly, I think she has 2 balconies/flowerbeds at her current place.

I believe we can still go with a gardening scrapbook as it is a most lovely idea. Although she does not have a backyard at the moment, she has been doing quite a bit of reading on sustainability and farming. So whether she is able to do much gardening at the moment, I believe she will love to receive the scrapbook and enjoy reading it.

I love the idea of including seed packets but we might have to check very carefully if they will have any issue going through United States Customs. Australia is notorious for keeping foreign plant and animal products out of its borders because of diseases and other reasons, so I'm not sure if US is similar.

Also, now that we have learnt from another recent Q&A panel she is keeping a pet puppy, I suggest maybe we can include a pet part and have a "gardening + pet scarpbook"? As a fellow pet owner, maybe she will enjoy reading funny stories of people and their pets? Just some very random ideas. But if we don't have enough time then the gardening scrapbook is probably still the best idea.
