I will wait and see what ideas will come till maybe beginning of April and then start a vote to see what most people would like to do.

I like the idea of something gardening related. She likes gardening and its something useful.

If its going to be a book or something that needs to be printed, i would go for digital pages again and print them like we did last year.

I like the idea of everyone picking a flower that's native to his/her area. This makes it a little easier for those who don't garden as it gives us something specific.

We could do like the cookbook, but instead of having recipes, we give her all the information she needs. Name of the flower, some history about it, then go into the details: Does it need a lot of sunlight, when does it bloom, etc.?

My only concern (aside from the previously mentioned importing issues) is it could get a little crazy with dozens of people mailing packets of seeds. Plus, what if something happens in transit, some of the packets come unglued/untaped from the pages or one of them opens/tears?

Seed packets are generally very well sealed. To minimize any possibility of tearing, the packets could be held within envelops on each page of the scrapbook, and then the scrapbook itself could be shrink wrapped in plastic before boxing for shipping to Summer's agent. The seed packets themselves could be sealed between two layers of card-stock for mailing to the person who assembles the gardening scrapbook.

I think that's a great idea, but I don't think I can contribute very much in that.

How comes that ? I'm sure you can go and ask what flowers / plants are common in your area. And if there is not a special one that grows in your area, which i doubt, look if there is a flower / plant that has a special meaning in the history of your country / area, yourself.

I'm sure if you look, you will find something. :) I can imagine that it isn't easy, but we want to give her something special, so it little work needs to be done. :)

After this talk of flowers, I decided to look up my state's, state flower. It is the peach blossom. I can hardly mail a peach pit so I'm going to see what else my state has to offer. If not my current state, then I'll check one of the other two states I've lived in my life. Ahem. Provided you go with the idea. Which I hope you do as I like gardening too.

EDIT: I just found a website listing native plants for my state. there must be three dozen flowering plants listed! :-) Hurray. Now it just remains to select one of them But if you go with the idea, I might be limited to what's available at my local gardening shop. :D

The problem isn't that there aren't any native plants in my country(there are), the problem is shipping them to a different state/country (financial problem) and the second problem is I am 14 years old....that's pretty much it. :|

And if you actually choose to do this idea there could be a little paragraph (in that book or whatever it is that you are maybe going to make) that says that she has a big fan in Serbia so that she at least knows of me/us (if there are any big fans in Serbia except me)
I mean that's what I would like you to do if you choose this idea. :)

If she's into flowers, then we could each contribute a packet of seeds for flowers native to our various states or countries. Norman or Cristelle could create a scrapbook like affair with each page holding a seed packet, trivia about the state or country from which its from, information about the native flowers, plus a brief message and greeting from the fan who contributed.

To minimize the work for Norman, those who send in the seed packets could also include the information about the flowers, state or country, along with their birthday greeting.

I actually think she loves flowers - orchids above all. I think I read that in an interview somewhere I just can't remember where. Maybe we should like order flowers online and get them sent to her?

I think that we should send her some actual flowers, but only flowers can't be a good birthday present, there must be something else(like seeds), not just flowers. :|

I don't think we can send flowers to her PO Box. Besides, they probably wouldn't survive transit. Seeds would be better.
