can make a video about something that she likes or interesting?

We could do a short montage of the gift givers saying happy birthday or something in combination with another gift.
I could put it together if everyone filmed themselves and sent it to me.

I don't know much about gardening though :)

Off-topic: hello everyone and Merry Christmas.

Greetings and Merry Christmas to you too. I like your idea.

Another suggestion related to charities - what about people doing something in their local communities such as volunteer work, donations, and other good works? We could list the people who participate, explain what they are doing, and maybe add a short bio.

Hi Dear friends,
I am happy that we are going to make the next present for Ms Glau. I was wondering, we all have noticed her reaction the cookbook, but I haven't noticed same reaction to he first book that we sent to her last year. I mean, that book may not has reached her. (I deeply hope it has reached). So I like the idea (which was mentioned some lines above me) to make a book with photos made by us, and may be we can also make a video message to her. So in my imagination the present is a book togher with a disk (dvd, or something bigger) with our video messages. That's my opinion. I hope you like it. I am glad to hear all other ideas as well.

P.S. I wish to all of you to have a very good time on Christmas!

So its time to think about what to do for Summer's birthday next year. Any suggestions ?
We know that Summer is a gardening "geek" and I thought we could give her something that is personal and related to this. Of course we can't send her any plants, but maybe there is something interesting to find that is related to this. Shall it be a book again or something totally different ? Any ideas ?

I just stumbled onto this.

As actress connected mostly with SF Summer should be interested in astronomy. So, my idea is to by telescope for her birthday. In Hollywood productions one can see people watching the sky and telling tender words for his/her friend. So it could be not only for reason but for heart too.

Sad to see that we have so less ideas for this years birthday. So I guess we have to come up with something.

I haven't been here that long but it does seem like a decrease in posting.
If sticking with a gardening theme, how about a grab box/treasure hunt.
Seeds, gloves, a trowel and hand pruners. Different small items from different places
not normally found in California. Wouldn't be that big or heavy nor expensive.

Thanks for posting. Gardening is for me also the top present. But of course she is very busy and so a treasure hunt might be not that easy. But we will see what comes up and i'm sure we will find something great.

One idea might be to create an almanac or yearbook. This type of present is based on a calendar, it could include gardening information and themes, and it could serve as a record of Summer Glau's accomplishments. An appealing aspect of an almanac is that it is, in effect, a present that is unique to each year.

The sort of things you could include are pictures from conventions, other records of conventions, screen caps of her various performances, copies of reviews, memorable comments, and the like. You could also have a section on new recipes. a gardening calendar, or lists of recommended books to read, movies to see, or just about anything. An almanac could also include a chapter of facts about Summer. Some of the content might not change from year to year particularly for biographical data.

If you did this for several years, it could be quite a significant record of the work that Summer has done and of other events of interest to her and her fans. Who knows - perhaps she might like to write something for the yearly almanac.
