i want to put under the spotlights a big huge problem with the (american) tv shows aired in France


let's start with a little true story:

yesterday i was reading a magazine, where someone wrote in the "readers mail page" a question saying :

"... i'm wondering why the episodes of Mentalist are in the wrong order... we must wait the January 20th to see episode 2..."

note : the January 20th, there are already 6 episodes aired, so we can see tonight the episode 2.

the best of the story, the answer of the channel airing the show :

"... we assume that, the episodes are "standalone" the plot ending in each episodes..."

So here is my question :

[Berserk mode ON]
WHY THE HELL ARE THEY AIRING IN THE WRONG ORDER ??????!!!!!!!!!!!!
THERE'S NO YOUNG PUBLIC ISSUE OR ANYTHING ELSE JUSTIFYING THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IT'S THE SAME FOR MANY OTHER SHOWS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![berserker mode OFF]

state :
-remote controller scratched on the floor
-magazine flying in the room, pages scratched
-nail prints on the sofa

Well, you know, since a moment ago I thought that thing like that would happen only here, where TV network only recently have started to recognize that the products they're airing aren't anymore like the show of ten years ago where each episode was selfcontained.

I can say that I feel you.

you're right it's not like years ago, but even if it's selfcontained episode, i'm not understanding why they do that.

for the mentalist for example, in the earlier episodes, there is no allusion about the crush between 2 members of the team, but last week we saw an entire episode about it (i think episode 16 aired in 6th rank), and i'm going to watch the episode 2 tonight, so i'm sure there's no allusion about that.

it's a shame

probably i'm wrong, but sometimes i think that the tv show fans are treated like dumies by the channels, like we're so doom to not realise it's the wrong order

even it's selfcontained, why the hell not in the right order ?
some times i think : they are the dummies

Nonono, you're not wrong, my friend. Reality shows are the evidence and they think that all the viewers has the same QI.... with all the respect to people that watches and likes reality (sorry but personally I can't help but feel insulted by such kind of TV ).

I've also wondered about that.
The fact is, in recent shows, episodes may be self-contained, but they also treat a background story that generally spans over a few episodes, and sometimes over the season. So if you don't watch in right oreder, you miss something or worse, you don't understand anymore.
I also see no reason for that. But unlike Copper, I won't break my remote for that.

but i just want to let this out, because it's very frustrating to see this irrespect of the viewers

as the director of one of our most famous channel said something like that (don't remember well) :

put the ads while in free brain time of the public...

in french something like that
mettons les pubs pendant le temps de cerveau disponible du téléspectateur.
