When you think about it, the whole "romance" between Bennett and Topher was really rushed. They barely had 15 minutes of screentime together and suddenly they're "in love?"

I think that if the show had more time, they would have slowed things down and really developed the relationship between Bennett and Topher but I doubt that Bennett's ultimate fate would have changed.

Also, I really hope they make the whole revelation with Boyd make sense. There's just so much from previous episodes that contradicts it, especially all the parts where Boyd almost dies.

Well, they suggested more times that the two knew each other by name (and reputation) and they have mutual admiration. Yes it isn't enough for love but both Bennett and Topher aren't the "normal" girl and boy, you know. ;)

Oooh surely it would, read this interview to Tim Minear:

It's clear that they've taken some decisions due their cancellation (the whole Boyd thing, for example), and more specifically:

Quote:
And I shot Bennett in the head because it's funny.

Ok, maybe it would have been "funny" also without the cancellation but maybe they'd think twice before they permanently delete a character.

Can I ask a question. Who in the hell thinks shootin someone in the head is FUNNY? Maybe we oughtta bust a cap in his ass and see how funny he thinks that is. Bennet made the show worth watching. Made she should've actually BEEN in the whole entire freakin season not just three episodes. Maybe it wouldn't've evenb gotten cancelled had they thought of that. Man I HAVE OFFICIALLY LOST ALL FAITH IN JOSS WHEADON.

Dude, please cool down. ;)

First off all, read the whole article, don't jump right to the conclusion. It's obvious he was a bit provoking and also he probably didn't want to discover too much since there are still two episodes to run.

Then, Dollhouse has started to being worth watching before Bennett/Summer has joined it (and I think it's also a reason why Summer decided to jump in, even if the show was already doomed... and, if I recall correctly, you were one of those blamed for Summer's choice ), of course she added another substantial boost to it but the wheels were already burning.

And to say it all, the show has gained its best when they've known that they were cancelled.

And last but not least, if despite everything you want to blame someone however, he's Tim Minear, who wrote and directed the episode, not Joss. ;)

3 times... c'mon ppl 3 times fox network has done this now. after ep 13 I am officially freakin' DONE with anything Fox network. I don't even care if they come out with
Quote:
Coming to FOX this fall... some awesome sci-fi completely starring Summer Glau
we all know that's not gonna last. First Firefly, then Cameron... now this? They went as low as they could possibly go with this last one. and I'm not criticising Summer's choice to be on DH. She actually made the show more interesting. I mean s2 was more interesting than the first one, but still nothing to invest in. why is it it only started REALLY getting interesting when Summer showed up? What Joss and crew need to do is come up with something that has some staying power like Buffy did only with Summer and stay away from FOX. That's what they need to do.

and another thing...

and what was he thinking? did they think that wasn't gonna piss off alot of Glau-Fans? She wanted revenge on Caroline and they should've let her have it. and Topher saying he could bring her back. How? I mean what is gonna pull some kind of Dr. Frankenstein on Her or something? and replace scarred brain tissue complete with the "She's alive" quote and give her back her old memories of when Caroline screwed her over? I mean that could make a great fanfiction.

and might i add
Quote:
So far as Bennett "hearing Caroline wrong..." I think I was the one who wrote that flashback in "Left Hand." It was a shorthand thing of "Caroline betrayed Bennett." I had no real idea what the context of it was. Of course, then I get to this ep and now I have to flesh that out. There was some discussion about whether I should redeem Caroline at all by twisting that memory a little — I did it because for me, as a writer, if I go back to that moment and don't say something new about it, then what's the point of going back to it? So that's why I did that.

And I shot Bennett in the head because it's funny.
Yet another example of lazy storywriting. shouldn't he've thought of this before the other episode. that and I still don't really like eliza dushku all that much.
but at least she get some revenge in the next ep. still THAT SHOILD BE SUMMER kicking Saunder's ass along with Echo/Caroline and then BOOM she turns on Caroline for the ultimate revenge. Show's over that's all they wrote. Now that's storywriting.

You forget that tv isn't like it was when Buffy, Angel etc. came out. It has changed a lot. Whedon said that the show wasn't to be like this, but he had to make compromises with FOX. Every creator of a show on every Chanel has to make compromises, not only on FOX.

I think it was a great episode, sad but great. The scene was shocking and unexpected.

Indeed. It had a really quick pace, I thought to be on a rollercoaster and at the end we crashed! ;)

That may be true and all considering the old classic opinion that "if Firefly came out first it probably would'nt've gotten cancelled"

here's an opinion on that page i actually agree with

Ever since Dollhouse got canceled it suddenly got good. Coincidence? Bad case of "network says" ruining the show? Or is it maybe that shows who have a clear finish line actually go forward, while shows without clear cut path to the end get lost in pointless plots (e.g. Heroes, Lost 3rd season)

the other comments basically talk about how us "obsessed GLAU-FREAKS ARE PISSED" which okay I agree no kidding we're pissed.

buit then there's comments like this

@vitruvian23: But would anyone really care about a non Summer Glau Bennet?

I mean I would, especially if it were in Victor's body. That would be awesome.

But I somehow don't think her rabidly obsessed devoted worshipers who think River Tam can kick god's ass while blind, deaf, dumb, with 3 hands and 4 legs tied behind her back would be having it. Reply

In victor's body? WTF? a guy? of course we "rabid glau worshippers wouldn't be having it."

But they only started talking about Bennett on the episode that she showed up. We never saw Topher talk about how he admired Bennett's work in season one or the first four episodes of season two. The whole thing is rushed so that there would be more emotional impact when Bennett died. It's like in one of those action movies where we see about ten minutes of the hero with his family and then his family gets brutally murdered and the hero spends the next hour and a half getting revenge on the bad guys who killed his family.
