If you like the sea, Genoa and her Italian Riviera are a beautiful place to stay if you come in the mid season (not in the central summer) you can both enjoy the weather and visit the places with less crowd (during the summer there are a lot of people from Milan and Turin that "came down" to the sea so theere are a lot of trattic on the highways).


I know, we also in Genoa has some vaporetto, one used like a sea-bus (from Pegli to Caricamento, two Genoa's areas) and from Genoa to Portofino, to Camogli and if I remember correctly to Cinque Terre.

but i don't know if i can plan it since we have restrictions at work for the next year holidays (changing the operating systems, softwares and computers for about 1400 persons)

i live not so far, about 500 Kms

but as i did a few years ago, i'll book an hotel near Nice as base camp, and then i visit the neighbours, the last time i stopped at Vintimiglia, i saw the sign of Genova, but it was too late, so i went back at the hotel.

i want to return in this region because i like visiting Monaco, and i absolutely want to return in Vintimiglia because there i bought the best 'olive oil' i ever ate, bought directly at the mill.

I've always come under sea cities spell... I visited Genova once in the past and, even if it was several years ago and it was for a very short time, I have a precious memory of that day... If I'm not mistaken, next week the 2008 movie called "Genova" should debut in italian cinemas (the english director Michael Winterbottom said he was charmed by this city, too).

Wow, i was reading some info about Genoa (aka la Superba, The Superb one ) and it says that it has "only" about 610.000 of population (900.000 in the urban area) I thought it was bigger

Comparing to the 6 million+ of my city (11-13.5 million in the greater metropolitan area ), Genoa feels like a country town to me, calm and quiet. Perfect to spent some days/weeks/months...or maybe years

I wanted to move from here...head to a smaller city, like Niterói or Volta Redonda (Portuguese for Round Turn, worldly known as Cidade do Aço, which is Portuguese for Steel City)...

lol you think you know small country town? My hometown has a population of like 1,200. The next closest town is 8 miles away with a population of 6-7,000.

One good thing about living in a small town though is its really a nice quiet neighborhood and everyone seems to know everyone and looks out for each other and their homes. One of the few towns left you could probably leave your doors unlocked at night and not have a thing to worry about. =)

i live in a city of 30000 / 35000 people, and i like it

but for some things to do, we must move to the near bigger city.
