I have two questions regarding moderation in the comment sections.

1. I provided four missing pics from the ballet set and a link to the source. I posted them in the picture thread here on the forum and also tried to post them in the relevant comment section but the comment didn't come through... it didn't come through twice. I would really like an explanation for that, because I can't make sense of it.

2. There were some indecent comments under the post with the magazine scans, some others and I complained about them. I didn't see what happened after that but the whole comment section is gone now... I'm sure I'm not the only one that noticed. So, what's up with that? Was it really necessary to delete all the comments? Seems a bit overzealous to me.

Also, in other sections, comments of the same indelicate and invasive kind are left untouched... I still think that that's a shame and frankly, an embarrassment for this site. One would think you'd keep a cleaner house.

As far as i know comments to some news need to be checked by an admin.
For the post in the forum. The servers were down and slow for a while.
Maybe they switched the servers and the backup of the forum didn't contain your post.

I didn't know what happened, because i wasn't in the town for a while but remember that Cristelle runs the site alone and she hasn't the time to check all the comments and her computer also blew up some time ago.

I will try to check what happened.

best,

Norman

I can confirm that few days ago, something wrong happened with servers (as it happened few weeks ago).

When servers go wrong, posts disappear...

According to the comments moderation.
Its Cristelle's site and she decides what to do and what not, so i guess you have to live with that. :)

Hi,

Just wanted to pop in for more info.

Regarding the comments on the main page:
- sometimes they don't appear right away and are held back for moderation. This happens when the programs suspects the comments to be spam. Most of them are indeed spam (more than 20 everyday), but sometimes it also blocks fan comments. That means I have to manually check everything and delete the spam and validate the rightful comments. (It might happen that I go to fast and delete something I shouldn't have. It's rare, but it happens - sorry).

- regarding what I willingly delete. Well that's a very difficult thing to do. I try to let people say what they want and not be too hard with them. It's a free country. I normaly only delete comments which are unrespectful of Summer and her family.

- regarding the comments on the german article scan. yes I deleted everything. I read all the comments, and the further I read the more stupid and childlish it got. This unnerved me so much I simply deleted it all and bloked the topic. That's what you get when you push it too far.

Please understand that in general it takes me between 15 to 30 min everyday to check the comments. I can't spend another 2 hours going through comments of people arguing with each other about some pictures. I have better things to do with my free time (like updates, research and more).
Also if such problems continue to happen I will simply disable the 'comment function'.

As far as I can tell it does that everytime you include a live link, it then tells you that the comment is awaiting moderation and normally that message later disappears and the comment is visible for everybody. It just seemed odd that it happened twice in a row. I posted the comment and got the message that it's awaiting moderation but half an hour later it was gone completely, so I posted the same comment again but shortly after, that one was gone too, so I gave it up.

That's the point, I felt that the comments were disrespectful and I wasn't alone with that opinion. I guess if you want to let people make fools out of themselves, that is your decision. I still think it reflects poorly on this site but that too is your concern and your concern only.

I didn't push anything. I simply stated my discomfort with some of the comments, once, and again wasn't alone with that opinion. I also don't think it's fair to punish the collective for the actions of a few jerks.

It would be a shame if that were to happen. If you don't have the time to thoroughly check the comments yourself, why don't you make a thread, asking for a moderator to do the job for you? I don't have the time either but I'm sure that several people would volunteer and it should be possible to find someone among them that is level headed enough for the job.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

It's Cristelles site so i wouldn't want to take to much from her.
Of course, if its necessary and somebody is needed i would love to help out and time is in my case (currently) not the problem. But its her site and her decision and I think and i guess the most of the members too, that she has done a great job in every part of the site, from the comments over the contests to the news and the forum.
