Hello All:

I have just joined and I am really pleased to join a group of Summer Glau Fans. I am fairly new to Summer Glau's work, having only discovered Serenity and Firefly this last February. But I am making up for lost time.

I also am glad to be part of a forum that does not engage in criticism of her as it drives me nuts to read some of the garbage that has been written about her. She has an amazing talent but like many great artists, she appears to be quite vulnerable to criticism. Thus, I see this forum as a kind of sanctuary with an emphasis on discovery, discussion, and sharing a mutual delight in her work.

I really like all her work but I am most impressed with her character Cameron. In particular, episode 4 of the second season - Allison from Palmdale - is an amazing piece of work in my opinion and I find her performance mesmerizing. Imagine playing four characters in one episode. And yet she pulls it off.

I live in Toronto and I have been scouring the web trying to find out what job she was referring to in the Calgary Expo YouTube videos. I have a few ideas but there is nothing concrete yet. All I can say is that whatever it is, I look forward to seeing it. I hope she has a long and interesting career and I look forward to seeing more of her work in the future. I also look forward to sharing my interest in Summer Glau with all of you and reading what you have to say.

Best to all,

Alex

hi Toronto Alex, and welcome to the forum... I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay! :)
I've read your nice introduction and I have to admit that I'm also eager to know something more about Summer's new project, if she decided to take the job, of course...

Hi Alex, welcome to the site. This is the right place to come in regard to your expectations. Of course we're all Summer lovers here and there's no criticism over here, not that we refrain ourvelves to, but just because there's nothing to criticize, her job is probably one of the most amazing pieces of acting I've seen. In particular when she cries in scenes I'm so sad I would start crying too.
Yes Summer is very vulnerable to criticism this is why she does not look at what is said on the Internet about her anymore as she always ended in tears. What a sensitivity.
You're right, AFP was an all Cameron episode and Summer's performance extraordinary. I'm interested about your theories concerning Summer's mysterious job that prevented me from meeting her in Starfury last week.
God knows how much I would like to go in Toronto. This is a nice place. We have another member of the forum who lives in Toronto.

Thank you all for your kind welcome. As a city, Toronto has a lot to offer. There is a lot going on here. If anyone is visiting, feel free to get in touch with me as I would be happy to answer any questions. If I can help you, I will.

Here is what I have been able to find out so far about a possible role for Summer. And by the way, this did not take long to figure out and in no way do I mean to get anyone in trouble. However, if there is a safe place to share information about Summer Glau, this forum has got to be that place.

1. In the YouTube video from the Calgary Expo, she said she was going to Toronto to take a part.

2. In a tweet from a costumer (Twitter: ErinDaPrato) I read that she had worked with Summer Glau here in Toronto on the 27th of June.

3. In tweets just before and after the Summer Glau reference, DaPrato said she had worked on two sets: Being Erica, a Canadian show about a character named Erica who travels back in time to fix problems; and Nikita, a series based on the original film La Femme Nikita. However, she does not explicitly state which of the two projects it is nor can I determine if it is one of these two.

4. In the list available at this link (http://www.toronto.ca/tfto/currentlist.htm), there are quite a few productions including the Canadian version of "So You Think You Can Dance" which is probably not what she is working on. Some other unlikely productions are Paranormal Home Inspectors, Dinner Party Wars 03, and Making of the Teenage Brain.

5. Some of the possible projects could include Warehouse 13, Combat Hospital (about a medical unit in Afghanistan), Total Recall (with Colin Farrell), or many other items on the list.

I sincerely hope she gets a project that is worthy of her talent and that allows her a chance to stretch and to be challenged. I will keep digging and get back to you as soon as I hear anything else.

Cheers to all,

Alex

I'll see what I can dig up. I kinda hope it's not Nikita though. Aside from Supernatural, I'm not a fan of any of CW's programming.

Also, I had no idea another Total Recall was in the works. I find this fact pleasing.

I was dying to reply to this however hopefully "Alphas" is the answer.
A reoccurring role too. "Also, I can kill you with my brain" comes to mind.
Alex you mentioned Being Erica. Had to look that up. Found out it is in it's
fourth and STATED last season. NO! I realize work is work but, God no! I
immediately thought of Doll House and "Bullet in the brain pan squish". Anybody
else actually say that out loud when it happened? OK, I said OH $%#* bullet.......
As for Nikita just wasn't feeling that. No offense to Maggie but bringing in another
actress with as much if not more star power to her show? Just not seeing that
happen.
Thoughts?

Well, I am very glad that your hope is realized and that I was wrong about the other choices. I have watched the first three episodes of Alphas and I like it. If anything, this is a chance for more people to see Summer and to see what a talented actress she is.

I am trying to figure out what her role will be (whether recurring or a one-time appearance). In the promo that Norman posted, it looks like she is in a lab at one point, and perhaps she is not an Alpha as I had originally thought but some sort of scientist. Or maybe she is an Alpha and a scientist! As your name so aptly suggests, we'll see.

Yes, and reoccurring!
