Couldn't fit the whole TOPIC line in the SUBJECT so here it is:

As the Topic states: "If you had the financial means how would you further Summer Glau's career?"
I'm starting this Topic in the Lounge Forum as I believe your responses will be hypothetical/fiction. (as mine are at this juncture)

So I'll start off the Topic with my "5" suggestions to further Summer's career. There is a reason/story behind
my suggestions which I may, or may not share. Please keep an open mind to what I type and when replying
to this Topic. Even though this is a hypothetical/fictional Topic it is meant to be somewhat serious.

My suggestions are not in order of preference.

As a philanthropist (with $ 22 million CND) I would:

Spend up to the amount of $ 16 million USD to:

1. Partially finance Season 3 of T:SCC;
2. Partially finance a 2 hour T:SCC movie to bring closure to the series;
3. Partially finance a 2 hour movie of Summer's choice;
4. Fully finance Summer in a career of choreography;
5. Fully finance Summer in opening a School of Dance.

In reference to #5: (Summer is 28 now, so as an injured dancer how many years of "full, free
flexibility" does she have left? Four more years perhaps) (After 3-4 years teaching
dance she may want to return to acting part or full time)

Out of the 5 suggestions above Summer would pick one, or any variation, her choice, of which I would finance.
In addition to financing her choice(s) I would pay her a "gift" of $ 1 million USD for a period
of one year effective from the date of contract signing. (the gift would have to be considered a salary for "income tax"
purposes.) The one year would be needed to research and build her career choice, also as a sign of good faith for
the business relationship.

Family is very important to me, so Summer would be encouraged to hire one or both of her sisters
to help in the research/consultation of her career choice(s). Having the sister(s) close to Summer would be important.
Her sister(s) would be paid in accordance to the current pay scale for the field(s) of
expertise in which she/they would be employed. Depending upon the project(s) I could be inspired to
hire/consult both of Summer's parents in a professional capacity.

In return I could only hope that the business relationship could develop into a friendship, I would need to
retain 10% artistic license of her choice(s). (for future growth and re-investment in Summer's career choice(s).
Summer would retain 90% artistic license of which she could keep or divide as she sees fit amongst fellow
colleagues and professionals.

Within the framework stated above I may *edit* this (my) text to better convey
my wishes and thoughts to Ms. Summer L. Glau.

{Disclaimer}
[I'm not perfect and don't have a business management degree, so the above is from
a "lay-persons" fictional perspective.]

*edit* Going with #5 I'd also maybe make a pitch to see if Dad Glau would like to build the "School" (he's a general contractor), wouldn't hurt to ask. I'd also ask Mom Glau if she'd like to do some "costume design" as well... (why not get the whole family involved)

*edit* Responders are having some problems with the above comment, so for clarification the comment wasn't meant to imply "I could buy her or her families friendship". I also believe it would only be right to pay her for her time and efforts over a course of a year. If the project/venture came about before the end of 1 year she still gets the full salary. This is "her" future and in the USA (real world) you NEED to make a profit to grow, expand and survive.. I would also require something from the investment, I don't think she'd respect me otherwise, or she may get the impression I was trying to buy her friendship. Don't think people that I'd be sitting on my back-side while she does all the work. I'd be in there with her, helping as much as she'd allow me to; if that meant stringing lights or carrying her luggage I'd be there!

Within the framework stated above I may *edit* this (my) text to better convey
my wishes and thoughts to Ms. Summer L. Glau.

Very nice topic, man :)

Well, i gotta say that i really don't know what i would do...indeed, i would help her, somehow...the way i could.

Return ? No $$$$, artistic license or anything (since i wouldn't do that as an investment. Would be more like a hobby. I like to help the way i can to those ones i like). Just the same as you, friendship. But i know also that this can't be "bought" like that (i know that isn't your intention either, i'm just trying to explain that, helping her wouldn't be a way to make her my friend, you know...i wouldn't do this with another intentions, interests, or whatever may look like), it just happens, spontaneously...But having them as friends already would be enough for me. :) Image

Taking as base your options...
I know she loves ballet, long before acting she already was dancing. But i don't know which one she would choose (the one she likes most, of course; as all of us already saw and keep seeing, she can do both fields (acting and dancing) with a singular mastery...^^).

I know also that a 3rd TSCC season would be GREAT, but i'm not sure if i would have the $$$ required to that, even if i was rich (how i wanted...who doesn't wanna be ? :roll: :mrgreen: ). Doing the show costed the same (or even more) than making a big movie, according to what i heard and saw about the budget.

About TSCC movie...same said about the season. I just say that this would depend 100% of Summer's choice.

A movie about dancing i would finance, for sure :D Since is what she always loved since the beginning, before acting...and she'd do both roles in the same movie (acting and dancing) :mrgreen:
I guess it would be perfect :geek:
I guess it would be the 1st option i'd show her :oops:

I want to make clear that i'd do this if i had ALL the necessary resources (aka A LOT OF MONEY, something like hundreds of millions or some billions of dollars). I couldn't invest ALL the money i'd have, either. I also have a life, family, etc :mrgreen:

But, as i can't help the way i'd like...:(

But life...life is a box of surprises. Who knows the tomorrow ? :) :geek: :ugeek:

I'm writing this at 03:30 A.M. here (Image), so...i may edit something later :lol:

I'm broken, i got a very bad headache right now (probably due to not sleeping already), so...have a good night to anyone who comes here Image

Nice
I really like the whole idea,especially the part with the
"5. Fully finance Summer in opening a School of Dance."
I think that is a very good idea since Summer is a great dancer and she
obvious loves kids and has a great approach with children.So to support
a School of Dance will be my first priority.

She is a tough girl and i don't think that she need help from anybody.
The way people support her now is great but giving her money or try to get a job for her wouldn't be the best, i think.
By doing this i would feel like saying that she can't do it for her own, but she can do it, she has the power. I would and will support her in every way but just giving her money or influence other people to get a job for her would be the wrong way in my case.
There are a lot of way people can support somebody but these 2 things wouldn't be the right ones for me.

Hmmm...

If i wanted to help Summer, I think I would ask her what I can do for her. And as Norman said, I am sure she would answer: "I thank you but I don't need your help, I want to do things on my own", or something like that.

To help someone requires his/her full agreement and to discuss with that person to know what he/she would really want.

After, I feel uncomfortable about becoming her friend by providing her something...?? :?

I mean: I can understand you can work with someone and become close friends, this is life... but you've got to let things happen (or not). Here it's clearly a bet, something you expect from her, and sorry, but... for me it's a problem to think so.

It's sure Summer is someone nice, kind and so on... but that does not mean I can become friend with her for example, you never know how relationships grow (or not) between people.

I am using "friend" into its deepest meaning, not a buddy, not someone you say "hello" like that: only people you can rely on and share secrets, sorrows and joys.

And true friendship has no financial interest, like your family: dealing with money is irrelevant for me. :|

Maybe the best way to help her is to leave her alone ? :?

;)

If I were a moovie productor would give to Summer any quality films. The whole her future fortune derives from this.

Well...you got a point...in the end, i didn't think about that, i was too sleeping ( :lol: ) and maybe selfish to post what i said... :(
Of course, it wasn't my intention, we always try to do the best for those ones we love, but sometimes, the best might not be what we believe (which is the case, i see).

Main problem is:

Would you really want to help her in an altruistic way or would you want to be part of her universe doing so ? :mrgreen:

Being honest, I think there is a lie saying it would be for her, "freely", no ? :)

Look deeply in the mirror of your thoughts. :mrgreen:
