Sorry for the not very clear topic name but I can`t really think of another one.. :D ..
So anyway..
Yesterday some of my friends come to see me and I invited them to come inside in my room which i don`t usually do because it way to messy  ,but the day before I have cleaned my room so I was very proud of myself.Anyway they haven`t seen my room in quite a time so when they saw all the posters photos and stuffs of Summer that I have there reaction was :
- Hey,dude you are obsessed with her.
Well i don`t think that is really a obsession it`s true that i speak very often of her and when I`m with people who didn`t share the same interest it`s really a little odd.
But anyway I don`t think that can be classify as something wrong.

So what did you think:
Where should be placed the border between a fan and obsessed. :?:
And what is the real definition of -to be obsessed :?:

Not very easy to tell. :)

But if you're a fan, you've got to think:
"Ok, I adore her but I don't know who she is in real life, I am not part of her life, she's a human being with her joys, her wounds, her fears. So I've got to respect her and to think twice before being intrusive in her life if I've got the chance to meet her one day."

What I am talking about "her fears" is the fact that it is surely scary to have people you've never seen in your life coming to you, asking you things, smiling at you... and expecting something from you in return at each second.

Think about that if you meet someone famous you like in real life: think about intimacy and respect. ;)

When you're obsessed is when you think there is a special link between you and the person you like... but you think that person you never met -and you don't know- feels the same in return -or could feel the same- !

Weird to think so, no ? :D

I think that when we were teenagers (sorry for those who are currently ! ), we did stupid things, thinking that way with a person we were interested in... but after we've evolved ! :D

An obsessed guy is someone who lives in a dream I think: he is unable to admit that the object of his passion is someone totally (and really) unknown for him.

That's why I feel uncomfortable when I read here: "I want to become Summer's friend".

Sorry but... breathe deeply and think about that twice.

I can understand that wish, but you've got to use your brain also.
Are you friend with everyone ? No.

Do you think there will be a reason to become Summer's friend ? No more.

And I am not speaking about the way to meet her, to be part of her life: I am speaking with the fact that, maybe, once you had met her, you could say honestly to yourself: "Nice, cute, kind, lovely.... but I don't feel something special that could make me think we could be friends."

I don't know, maybe I am wrong... but think about her as a human being please. ;)
As the tons of millions of others on Earth you will never talk... because they are not known.

;)

I think if anyone in this messageboard was completely honest with themselves they'd probably have to say they're slightly obsessed with Summer. But it's generally in a benign, well meaning way.

I agree that you cross a line when you try to be obtrusive into the persons life or feel that you've got some sort of connection. In reality what we can probably most hope for is that Summer has read something we've written to her, or that we meet her briefly at a convention or something. I don't think we have any right to demand anymore of her time by expecting her to email or write to us.

We're her fans, not her friends. It's enough to think that she appreciates her fans, and we should respect her, and her privacy, in return.

Exactly. :D

The right thing to do is to rationalize your thoughts and to say "What If I were at her place with such pressure ?". ;)

I think that there is no real definition of obsession, but when you realize that this person is the goal of your day and that it effects other friendships and your social life its very dangerous.

Joe made a good point by saying that it is important that you try to understand the point of view of the other person.

Exactly some ppl think that they are already friends with her and again what is the right definition of friend (another question) I think that is the right meaning of obsession how can you be friend with someone you don`t know .Yeah sure we know much of Summer,River and Cameron we know also her favourite food but i doubt that he know anything of the person itself.Maybe I`m wrong .
And then again there is a pretty slim border between obsession and crossing the fan state.
I agree with case that it's enough to think that she appreciates her fans as integrity.
I guess the true obsession is when you think that she separate you from this integrity.

I think Ugly_Kid_Joe explained it very well but

I agree, for example I have a friend who played World of Warcraft and got really addicted
and you can`t imagine how that effected his social life he was almost at the edge :? .It was something really horrible (i mean cmmon to forget to eat and sleep ).
So i guess the same thing may happen with Summer obsession although my interest of Summer has always been a help to me and i suppose it`s not only by me.
Many find some inspiration in that and it helps them to achieve different things
Again maybe I`m wrong ,that are just my thoughts ;)

It's surely frightening to have those pairs of eyes looking at you everywhere you go. :?

To feel spied everytime you go outside.

And having people asking you: "May I have an autograph ? May I take a picture ?"

For a girl, I think there is a little bit more of pressure: it's related to beauty, make-up, dress and so on (I think it's less important for a known man).

If you're not "perfect"... photo published on the web with a bad mood...

Joe and case said everything about it, but i can speak for myself:

When i have a crush on a celebrity like Summer, i usually think a lot about her, but it doesn't reach an obsessive level, because i don't think ONLY in her, i don't "breath for her".
The reality here, in my life, isn't the same. From time to time i have these periods of huge crush and then, calmness (so much that, like a saying i created, the feeling remains "buried" in the sands of my heart, just like an ancient artefact, waiting to be rediscovered, someday... :geek: ). And i guess the strongest period about Summer already passed...so, it's kinda like Hulk. When i became green, i thought a lot about her; now i'm Bruce Banner again, returning to the lab

Yeah you are right I guess Joe and case really did cover anything.
But maybe someone has something more (experience) to share

So I`m really glad, you really convinced me that I`m not really obsessed
and I`m just a fan :D :D
Sure i kind of already know that but sometime ppl are confused and ask themselves
"Am I really just a fan or it has grown in to something more" and by the time
they realize it`s to late (not only for Summer but many things)

Aha  that is the best thing that i`ve heard today
So you say to ppl-don`t make me think of Summer ... You won`t like me when i think
of Summer
