The boxed set comes out on Tuesday. I'm excited. I already have mine pre-ordered, so hopefully it'll ship soon.

There was some speculation as to whether or not NBC included the 10th episode because the original runtime given was a bit short, but I just checked two sites (Chapters and Best Buy), and both specify a runtime of 430 minutes, which is enough for 10 episodes, and bestbuy.com lists all 10 episodes. That's good news. :D

I'm not really happy about the DVD. The resolution is much lower than the one we had on TV. A BluRay would have been much better, but I doubt we will ever see one.

A friend of mine mentioned the same thing when we were checking out the DVDs last night. He said there must be some serious compression if they fit 10 episodes on 2 discs. NBC really made this thing on the cheap.

Do you know if they gave us any special features? I'm assuming they didn't since they crammed the entire series on 2 discs.

Unfortunately not. But as you said, 10 episodes on 2 discs. There is not much space left for extras.

That's disappointing...

This pretty much proves that NBC didn't care about releasing a boxed set. They only did it so they could steal more money from the fans. That's pretty low of them.

I'm still excited to get the boxed set because I like Orwell, but NBC is a horrible network. :x

Save money and make maximum profit.
They know the fans will buy anyway. This is mean. The actors' work and in particular Summer's deverve much better consideration.

At least they're not as bad as Fox. Most of the DVD sets NBC churns out has a decent amount of special features. I've been impressed with the 30 Rock sets. That aside, corporations like to make money. What I foresee them doing is releasing one now and possibly later down the line another set with all the other stuff they like to cram into DVD sets.

FOX is a couple points ahead right now. Firefly and TSCC both had special features. And FOX didn't broadcast the last episode of either show exclusively online. I hate FOX as much as the next person, but the way NBC treated Summer and The Cape... disgusting.

I never actually watched it to be honest. Whenever I get into a TV show, it almost always gets canned. I did plan on getting it come Tuesday and the extras would be nice but it's something I've come to terms with. The nice thing though is DVD sales for shows like this always soar. If they sell enough, they'll probably come back out with a new set.

As far as the Fox thing goes, I'll give them more credit than NBC once they stop cancelling good shows. TSCC and Firefly both deserved at least one more season. I have an almost irrational hatred of Fox since they canceled Futurama in 2002 though. So whatever I say about Fox, take with a grain of salt

FOX does have a very long history of cancelling shows prematurely.

Give the show a watch when it comes out. It isn't the greatest; the writing is pretty terrible due to the inexperience of the Wheeler brothers. But Summer did an excellent job with Orwell. She proved that she can be great even with bad writing.

I said before that I think it could've been better if they'd gotten someone like Joss Whedon involved. He knows how to create strong female characters, which is something the Wheelers don't know how to do. All the female characters, including Orwell, were weak. It was a bit frustrating at times.

But I'd say still give it a chance, and let us know what you think. We have a bunch of episode topics. :)
