Yes, this episode wasn't one of the best, perhaps even of the first season, but I liked it. I think that they taken a further step on the right direction: the selfawareness of Echo.

Yes, they relegate it in the final two sentences at the end but I would not throw this episode in the bin. The engagement of the week was more clever then the other even if it was really non sense: why the father decided to assume Echo as a mother (for how much time? One month? One year?) if he still wanted to give the child up for adoption?

It seems a bit too pretentious for me.

On a scale from 1 to 5 I'll give to this ep: 2.5

Let's just hope this show actually MAKES IT to episode 5 and / or 6.
So we can at least see summer.

Gusar posted a link to an interesting article about Dollhouse on the front page. Contains also some spoilers for the upcoming episodes. A really good article.

Nice article, and an excerpt:
Quote:
"Dollhouse" sets out to do what network programs are supposed to do -- to entertain -- but it also examines thorny ideas about power, exploitation and gender. Few other shows on television are willing to do this

Seems to me TSCC had those qualities and got canceled. Seems the ratings are good for reality shows, of which there are to many, most I can't stand and don't watch.

As much as we type on Wiki's to SAVE DH, that's not going to increase Nielsen box viewership nor increase the $$$$ coffers of FOX to keep it on the air.

Ep-3 was weird as well. Drug people and beat them to death with a lawn croquet mallet. Then have all the operatives receive the brain thoughts of a psychotic killer. :? Weird.

Yup! I think Bennet and Topher will have some very hard time trying to "fix" and "clean" Echo's brain. ;)

Btw, I loved Boyd when he talked to DeWitt: "Figures. Topher has ethics." and Adelle: "Stop translating everything I say.".

FOX are a bunch of cheapos IMO

Seriously. WTF!

i mean they can't even keep a show like Either of the two on the air do they realise they're gonna lose rating for the rest of their programming and then what?
More dumb reality shows noone's gonna watch?
They're gonna suffer tremendously and then go BANKRUPT.

FOX has sealed their own fate.
I guess it's true what they say... No Fate but what You make.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out the TV series on FOX Friday nights usually get the corporate axe.

I'm really starting to wonder if FOX execs purposely select shows "they" believe are doomed and put them in the Friday night slot.

You can bet your boots that if DH (or TSCC) were on the same viewing night as House or other sci-fi programming it would not be in danger of cancellation.

Friday night time slot is going to kill DH just as it killed TSCC.

I could get real angry over the loss of another good series but it's not worth a coronary.

My heart goes out to the hard working individuals who make a show/series I like or even love. That means everybody involved in the production, not just the actors, actresses, writers, producers and directors. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes that we the viewers don't see that makes everything work like a well oiled machine.

Just think how much of DH is actually "green screen" work. I would think it is a challenge for an 'actor' to actually apply his/her craft with conviction. You and I see a wall with computer display readouts, for example, while the actor only sees a "green screen". Not like years gone by where the sets and props actually had to be made.

@glau-coma
As much as we'd probably like to see FOX go under I don't think it'll happen any time soon. Instead of petitioning, FOX to "Save DH", they need to be petitioned to move DH to a more favourable night for viewing. Put another comedy or reality show in the Friday night DH time slot.

Quote:
It's 'petition', not partition.

Doh!
[Edit] Changed grammar errors. ;)

Unnnggghhh...can't.....help it....I shouldn't....but I must......

Is Fox a collection of harddrives that need to be partitioned?

It's 'petition', not partition. :D

Indeed. Think that behind TSCC there were 200 people, yes two hundred people (according to one of the latest Josh Friedman post on his blog) now more or less unemployed. :|

It's incredible how much work is behind 40 minutes of TV and we don't realize that. :o

EDIT: Thanks Rod, fixed the mistake between hundred and thousand.
