I really like the idea to offer Summer a world tour.
Sending a picture with a personal birthday message on it is a cool idea. Maybe a picture of the member taken from a known place not far from home (not difficult for me to find) or a video message. Just thinking anyway.

Dutch guy here. I would be up for taking a picture of myself with a windmill or something for Summer's birthday. I also have some pretty nice shots of our beautiful countrysides in the summer too, so if we're gonna do this, I'm in!

I think you understand my basic idea (hope so).

I think this is a good idea, we could get a lot more messages/pictures/etc. in a shorter period of time. Also the postal service where I am is terrible, everything is always a few weeks late.

my idea is... send a letter (on your own with request or only a fanmail) and in it put a little photo like the intestation of the mainpage http://www.summer-glau.net/wp/
with writed under Happy birthday summer
or a photo like this
http://www.summer-glau.net/
summer glau.net .... happy birthday...
maybe 1 mounth before her birthday

I think going with the centralised approach would be nicer. She would know it's something all of her fans put together and it would be easier to coordinate. I.E. mailing a picture and a .txt to Cristelle/Norman and them editing it into a book as was stated earlier and everyone chipping in for the costs. Of course we'd have to figure out how much that would actually cost though.

It`s a good idea mate, but I really think that for her birthday we all must send her something really special.I`m sure she will be very happy with this but she has received
thousands of happy birthday wishes, so like "Anonymous of Holland" said it would be great for her to see that all of her fans all around the world are working together to create something beautiful .And what more beautiful than the magic of a book.It will be like a big encyclopedia for the world (like those big encyclopedias in the bookstore but more interesting cuz it`s written by her fans ).That is really something she can enjoy and just read for fun I think that should be the main idea.
And aaa we should decide what to have in there (will there only be historical or other interesting pictures ,nature , and others. ..... . or there will some poems (like @Cameron suggested ..... that is the difficult thing to decide for the one who will order everything so we have to make good selection of things to include in order to make his/her job easier. So fundamentally we should decide what things must everyone of us prepare .personally I thing that autograph requests shouldn`t be include in this,it`s better if anyone wants to send one to do it in a different letter, cuz the book really should be only for her .And I think it`s good to put some dates for the preparation ,cuz maybe some ppl would want to travel somewhere around there country to take pictures so it would be nice to know the time-limit they have .....

i'm thinking at this.. we haven't a lot of organizations... so if we can't decide something fast we must make something like my idea

She won't receive the card or present at her birthday so there is enough time and its better to do something unique and special than something quick.

Sending it on your own hasn't the same effect as sending all of it together in one book or whatever.

I agree with Norman, plus I was really intrigued by the initial idea of making a sort of book with contents sent by the fans (picture, drawing, poem) like a fanciclopedia for Summer.

I mean, this idea:

Also, everyone is still free to send its own birthday wishes card separately if wished, the two things aren't mutually exclusive. ;)

If we are going to print a book, we have to decide if the sites are digital so that we can send it to a print shop who prints the book or we collect the handwritten sites and do it for ourselves. Or we combine digital and handwritten sites.

Digital would be a little bit faster because we don't have to send everything via post and the book itself would be in a better quality unless somebody knows how do print a professional book. :)

Handwritten sites would be more personal but would require more time and we have to find a way to print it all.

Its up to you guys. What do you want? Or maybe someone has another great idea for a birthday present?
