Hm, bad comments. I think there is lots of bullshit written by people. Only intention: Hurt somebody. No fan of Summer will write this nonsense.

Yes mostly bullshit and haters do not realize or do not want to realize the hurt they're doing.
But it's stronger than Summer. She's too sensitive to ignore these. She said once she always ended up in tears browsing the Internet and I understand her. So this site is probably the only site she looks at, it's her Internet sanctuary here.
I wasn't biased when I first watched her on TSCC and I immediately recognized great talent. It's a fact.

Hearing that only makes me feel more bad for her. I know that people are stating their opinions (and I have no problem with that), but they should be more constructive than hurtful in their criticisms.

I am at a complete loss to understand some of the criticisms of her, particularly the ones that border on anger and hatred directed at her. I can accept that some do not find her to their taste but that is entirely reasonable. We all have our own values and aesthetics. But the strong dislike that I see expressed occasionally really throws me for a loop.

If anything, she should be applauded for her passion, her ability, and her dedication. I have to be careful here as I do not want to create an impression that I am smitten with her - far from it. As well as admiring Summer, I also really like actresses like Cate Blanchett and Judy Dench. I am just as impressed with their work as with Summer's but I believe she is almost a philosophical ideal - a pure, dedicated artist with tremendous heart and completely open to the grace and beauty that she summons to her work (what I like to think of as the magic that she makes happen). This openness is, I believe, also accompanied by sensitivity that is just off the scale when compared to most people. As she grows and develops as an artist and a person, I think she is toughening up so that she is better able to handle the bad stuff that is sometimes thrown her way. She is getting better at handling it and not letting it distract her from what she loves to do.

Another aspect of her character I believe is that she is really hooked into the idea that she has to take care of her needs. I am thinking here about Abraham Maslow who articulated the idea of a hierarchy of needs. We all need food, shelter, clothing first before we move to the higher needs of self-fulfilment and friends (I am summarizing here a bit). Obviously, she has the basics covered and she now has her sights set very firmly on the need for self-fulfilment through her creative self-expression (in her work as an actress). And as to friends, in addition to probably every actor, producer, director, crew member, and fan that she has ever worked with or met, she has millions of friends that she has never met ( :D ) some of whom are on this forum.

Sorry for this long post but all of this is intended to say that the real prize here for Summer is doing what she is doing - focussing on her craft and continuing to work. And for all of us, the prize is not smiting the evil forces of Anti-Summer but instead supporting her work and continuing to express our fond regard and appreciation. In this way, we all benefit.
