As we know, Summer got a very deep dance training before beginning to act. But her skills in dancing, her natural grace is something which can be noticed when she acts. Even if her character is a robot ! I only speak about TSCC and Serenity, I haven't seen the other stuff in which she is (I know, I have some delay).

Yesterday, during a hard day at work, I watched her dance rehearsal for TSCC, that I found especially touching. Her gestures, how she moves as fluid as water is something I find... relaxing, light and very poetic. It was more than a break in the normal day... Of course, the TSCC episode in which she is dancing is very famous, and is maybe one of the most unforgettable scene of all the series.

To our pleasure, we can watch the same light gesture in the Serenity's battle scenes. Again, everything seems easy, although Summer trained hardly for it.

Actually, Summer's way of acting is a kind of dance. Even how she appears during the events, her way of being when she meets fans (there are some lucky people around her wink ), all of this is about : is she a (natural) ballerina ? An actress ? Both ? My answer to these question is simple : she is an artist.

And you, what's your opinion ?

i agree with you on everything that you have said. especially about the dance rehearsal being relaxing, light and very poetic.

on one interview i remember her saying that for action sequences she treats them as she would a dance. she learns them as choreography.

i think she can't be categorized. she does everything in her own way. she is definitely an artist as you say. but she is so much more.

I can attest to witnessing first hand at the con. Without thinking I'm sure, she busted a spin move around the end of a table. I also saw her bend forward at the waist [Serenity video of Inara's shuttle] twice, once on Saturday and another on Sunday to look at items. I have no idea if anybody else saw what I saw, but it does pay to be at the front of the line.

Just watched "The Black Swan", with an absolutely great and stunning Natalie Portman. But I am wondering how the role would have been played by Summer....

Anyway, this movie is really a masterpiece, even for people who are not interested in ballet !

Re- natural dancer

In the commentaries for 'Allison from Palmdale' she answered a similar question about a 'dance move' she made in the last part of the episode. She answered that it wasn't intentional because she was very tired. That would suggest it is done without thinking so the phrase 'natural dancer' would be very appriopriate.

I guess it depends how old she was when trained ballet and how advanced her training was.
